My understanding to Canadian Values

Actually I think most of Canadian values system are similar to the rest of western countries like US, which are democracy, free market economy, free election, freedom of press, respect for human rights, and so on. There are some of slight differences in Canadian values system that make some people call it Canadian values. For example, multiculturalism is one of Canadian values that is different from melting pot in immigration policy in US. In addition, Canadian values may contain some components of liberalism and socialism where all Canadian are entitled to have free health care sponsored by government of Canada while US have private health care system that are supported by corporations, individuals, and governments.

    • Very good question. To me, Canadian value means, fairness, respect for human rights, lives and diversity, positive attitude, honoring the law etc.
      • Agreed...What makes us different, than, say, U.S. value?
        • In my opinion, Canadians are way more forgiving than Americans.
        • Food for thoughts. Would you share your thoughts with us?
          • No need to change your original post. Adding "food for thoughts" is really just gild the lily.
            • This is my answer to your question: I wasn't talking to you. Okay? Do me a favor please. Do not glue to my posts like a fly. You just can't stop it, can you? -winterstorm(打酱油的); 09:15 (#8251351@0) reply more

          • Canadians tend to be more liberal in social issues; we are more open when it comes to different religious beliefs; we are seen not as aggressive and far more polite when dealing with others (comparing to US);
            • Agreed. Americans are way more old school in many ways.

      • Other than some grammatical errors, your points are very well articulated.
