Yes, it is all about fairness – to the teachers, to us tax payers, and most of all, to our children and their future

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛Everyone has a right: teachers have a right to be treated with respect and be paid fairly for their work; we tax payers have a right to understand how our tax money are spent and vote for the party that we agree with in the next election; our children have a right to learn knowledge from school.

No offense, but I take a stand against Ontario Teacher’s Union’s recent activities, including the most recent disruptions to my daughter’s and many other kids’ school life last Friday across Ontario.

Someone can say Bill 115 is full of bullshit and disagrees with it. It is totally within their right, and with my full support and respect, to raise the issues with government, to protest in front of Queen’s park, to go to court, or even to walk away from the job and go find another one, as long as the act did not violate other’s right, especially, our children’s right. There is no reason, whatsoever, to take hostage of an innocent bystander, who totally have no control and have nothing to do with the current situation, as a bargaining tool for the benefit of one group in this dispute. You can say whatever you have to say, just leave our kids out of it.

After a huge recession, by no means our economy’s future is certain. When Ontario is running a huge deficit, when all other 60+ public sector unions came to the table, negotiated, and agreed to the terms, the simple fact is, no one can spend beyond their means.

Act has its consequence and people remember. Without that summer’s garbage workers' strike, Ford would have no chance to become Toronto’s current mayor. With what’s going on with teacher’s union, rightfully or wrongfully, they are digging their own tomb, starting from now. This process could take long, and in the mean time, many children will suffer. But in my mind, it is inevitable.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net

    • Well put!
    • It is a good shout-out. Ding!
    • well said. The strike should not impact children and the strike process should be changed. It is not the right way to go for sure.
