Good movie. I feel like Cypher, the traitor when looking at an AI. I would automatically think:"How did they do it?"

Remember the scene in which Cypher promised to help machines when he was meeting Mr. Smith in an restaurant, he took a sip of red wine and said:
“You know, I know this steak does not exist. I now when I put it into my mouth, the Matrix is telling my brain that it is juicy and delicious. After nine years, you know what I have realized?”

Then he put the steak into his mouth, chewing thoughtfully, and said “Ignorance is bliss!”

“Then we have a deal?” Said Mr. Smith.

“I don’t want remember nothing… nothing !”

      1. Man and woman with no sense of humour.
      2. Man and woman with medium sense of humour.
      3. Man and woman with prodigious sense of humour.
      4. An intensely practical person.
      5. A sentimental person.
      6. A person who must have a moral in and a purpose.
      7. A hypercritical person.
      8. Enthusiast.
      9. Person who watches others and implores and condemns with the majority.
      10. Half a dozen bright young girls and boys unclassified.
      11. Person who relishes slam and familiar flippancy.
      12. Person who detests them.
      13. Person of evenly-balanced, judicial mind.
      14. Man who always goes to sleep.

These people accurately represent the general public. There is not a person among them whose opinion is not valuable to me – but the man whom I’m mostly dependent upon, is the man who always goes to sleep. If he drops off within fifteen minutes, I will burn the book; he keeps awake three quarters of an hour, I will publish, and I will publish with the greatest confidence.
Two, for the intent of my works is to entertain. By making this man comfortable on a sofa and timing him, I can tell, within a shade or two, what degree of success I am going to achieve. His verdict has burned several books for me, five to be accurate.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
      • It's true that we all like great writers, isn't It?
Thank you for your time and good work. I was curious if there is such software on markets to do the same job as you did. It can save a lot of time and manpower.
Wish your magic wand bring you fortune, and happiness.
        Thanks again.
        • You are welcome. Software can't think, can it?
          • Well Siri can. I think LZ is asking for a voice recognition software. I'm pretty sure there're some on the market. But I've never used any. Try Google "voice to text".
            • That is good to know. Some customer services are using voice recognition technology. I am a programmer, I just can’t see how codes can pick up accents other than asking for "yes" or "no"
That would a hell lot of "if" in the codes, if all the possibilities can be exhausted logically.
              • Try Watson

                • Artificial intelligence and machine learning is not my specialty. But I happen to have had one course on it.
本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛The whole computing world started by IBM revolves around binary system, simply put, true or false. With exponentially increased computing capability, software could make millions of true or false decisions. From what I had understood it in my student years, there were several methodologies to machine learning. All of them involved “coaching” and “training” machines, which was to record as many responses as possible. Next step was to decide which response to use through very complicated computing algorisms. In simple English: probabilities. Software won’t “think”, the codes behind it always aim to draw out one close enough response based on the information you feed. The larger response database it could do data mining on, the more “intelligent” it appears. Software can be designed in such a way that it corrects its own errors and adds them to its response database, so that it appears “learning”.

Remember the chess robot which repetitively beats world champions? It has millions of moves being recorded in its memory. Fool –proof? No, once the players move illogically or “unexpectedly”, it would be short-circuited.

Therefore, software applications don’t really “think”. They won’t understand human feelings, can’t write creatively great poems or plays. But they could marvellously perform repetitive functions that involve huge computation. I guess I have bored everybody to tears.更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net
                  • Remember the quote from the Matrix? "what is real? Define real....".. That will explain the questions you have.. When you can not tell, it does not matter from that point on....
"What is real? How do you define real? If you're talking about what you can feel, what you can smell, what you can taste and see, then real is simply electrical signals interpreted by your brain." - Morpheus
