  • 工作学习 / 外语学习 / Would anybody be interested in joining an English interest talk circle?
Basically a group of people would meet up regularly, could be in a coffee shop, or food court, etc. We talk about different sorts of predetermined topics of common interests; we could also have some kind of debates, if you wish. The main purpose for this activity is to help participants to improve their speaking skills.
Let's open up to some discussions…
    • Sounds interesting!
    • I'm interested.
      • This is what i am looking for. I am very glad to join this circle.
    • what a funny idea! chinese talks with chinese for practicing english in english speaking country.
      • It is funny and unique. Why not give it a try?
        • you can try if you gugs want to improve your Chinglish.
          • Chinglish is better than No-english. :)
    • not a good idea. why not hang around with native guys(girls) for learning purpose ?
      • It will be better to find a native boyfriend or girlfriend:)
      • If you hang out with them, chances are that you will be listening rather than talking most of the time. You would be better off just listening to the radio, that would help to save your energy bill.
      • Do you think native people will really help you? If you only need to hear standard oral , there is enough way , radio , native colleagues , movies, but do they have time and patience to teach you ,corrent accent for you? In most cases no way!
    • I'd like being a tutor if my schedule fit your meetings. Pls let me know your meeting
      • Thank you for your interest .
I am not quite sure what you meant by being a tutor, as we are hoping to run an interest talk circle where everybody would be provided with the opportunity to speak. Therefore we may not need a tutor at this point. But certainly you are more than welcome to join us .
        • Oh, I mean I want to be of help. I can listen to your talk/discussion and piont out some colloquial expressions. Yeah, I would like to know your meetings schedule? Thanks
      • What is the rate for tutoring? Is it free of charge?
        • No charge for this group. I am volunteering (You may just say: 'Is it free'. If people understand the contents, the simpler the better.)
Remember while in the university, when I asked my prof. 'May I ask you a question?'
          He replied, you just did.
          • Is your major English in University?
            • at my 1st school; then I changed it, computer science
          • By the way, that's not an English professor. That is a philosopher.
            • no, I didn't ask questions to an English prof. That's my Physics prof.
              • Do you provide individual tutorial free?
                • I guess your level is already high. You still want tutoring?
                  We may talk about it.
                  • yes, i think i still need to enhance my English.
      • If you have some time everyday, you may listen to radio AM680. It's a news channel. The anchorpersons talk very clear and use more standard words, phrases and expressions. I'd turn on my radios when I get into bathroom,
kitchen and sitting room, even bedroom, pick up daily news, weather broadcast, events schedules, etc. From time to time, I'd get some interesting stories, idioms. Make it a habit, you'll like it
      • Different people use different language/expression. Try to use courteous, positive words, avoid negative, impolite words. That will make sure you'll see more smiling faces. And you'd feel good in return.
    • ok, I am in. :-)
