The phrase, as used here in NY, is usually a retort to a negative comment, as in:
"I don't believe you are still running Windows 95!"
Answer: "Yeah, so what--Bite me!"

I believe the meaning is pretty clear. However, for the record, "bite me" refers to fellatio. Oral sex. The phrase isn't an invitation to a sexual encounter. It means "get lost" or "screw you." (Someone somewhere has no doubt done a study on why we use sexual terms in this manner. it's probably a dominance thing.)
3。Bite Me!
1. a command, similar to "Fxxk off!" (i.e. "Leave me alone!" "Go away!" etc.) Note: not considered vulgar but usually considered inappropriate in more formal settings. insults (list of)
bite me 这个短语美语中使用的也蛮多。这个是Fxxk Off的一个比较不那么粗鲁、粗俗的说法。不过使用的时候要注意正式场合不要使用这个说法。
bite me和Fxxk Off意思相近，类似于“滚开”。 不过Bite me还有其它常用的意思，譬如Leave me alone! Don't bother me!“别烦我”或“一边儿去”。
