here is my advice, see inside

本文发表在 rolia.net 枫下论坛take the first or 2nd classes to see if you like it, pay the deposit and have an agreement with vic that you can opt out before the end of 2nd class.
second of all, ask your employer to pay for the class, and take the financial burden off your shoulder
3rd, be prepared to work hard on the after class exercises, really really hard, i mean it.

please remember:
1. jerry's class or approach is not a pill that once you take it and your problem is solved. it's not like that. it's a good (non-traditional) approach, and it works for me so far
2. jerry 's class is not simply for pronunciation correction, it's an approach to help you get the sense of language, or put it this way, it's a natual way of learning a language instead of Studying a language.
3. it might not be good for people who are at very low level of english, as they are struggling for the basic stuff. however it's still worth a try giving the approach.
4. jerry's class includes inspirational speeches, and in my opinion, even more important than the pronuciation part as he encourages you and pushes you to step up out of your plate
5. practise, practise, and practise, there is no doubt about this. no pain and no gain. there is no shortcut here.
6. there are tons of other approaches out there, as someone mentioned earlier, this is a huge market. some may work and some may not work for you.
7. pick the one that FITS you most, rather than the one that claims to be the BEST for you. or put it this way: the one that fits you is the best one.

last word, based on the situation you described, i totally agree with you that communication skill is the number one skill here in north america. if you can't get over it, you are gonna suffer it a lot, especially when you see your colleagues with less technical skills get promoted and pay raise. wish you all the luck my friend更多精彩文章及讨论,请光临枫下论坛 rolia.net

    • Garbage class made up by Maria!
    • Sounds like Mr. Jerry came to canada when he was teenager, no wonder why his english is so good, like I never doubt my son will have no problem with english.
      • that's right! ESL,LINC's are free English classes and teachers are Canadians , they are much better than Chinese class.
      • He came to Canada in 2000 when he was 20 years old.You may not agree with him,but you should repect his success.
        • It's just a Maria's profit-driven class, we can respect Jerry's success but can't expect his success in teaching ppl. He's just a young guy, there are millions ppl with perfect English in Canada, can they all teach?
          • the first ,I don't think young guy means anything. The second,I don't know why you can't expect his success in teaching.
            • Is Jerry successful in teaching English? - i didn't see any positive feedback so far
        • ESL and LiNC are good enough for non-English ppl, and tons time better than Jerry's class. It doesn't make any sense to go to Chinese-English class for learning English in Canada. It's really a joke!
          • The point is the native people don't know how to improve chinese-english but Jerry might know. It is my two cents.
            • Jerry might know, or he sure knows? - for me, you seem to know Jerry very well, but you wasn't his student, right? - I urge ppl to go to ESL, LINC for more efficient and free English class, but you don't.
Again, ppl shouldn't waste time and money to a Chinese-English class to learn English in CANADA.
              • Yes and No
I don't know him and not his student.I think free or paid class is not an issue.UotT charges more than 1000 dollar for ESL and still have many students.English teaching is a big market and there are different requirement. His class may be not good or even a garbage, but you should not judge him or his class by his nationality.
                • Then pls pay $1000 to go to UT, and pls don't judge me by killing my freedom of speech!
              • ESL and LINC are so cool! You spend 10 years and finanlly become a tourist in Canada. But hey, they are free any way. so enjoy.
                • Then pls pay $1000 to go to UT!
                  • That's your ONLY option?
      • Yes,I think it is very importance or maybe most importance
The Soft skills is much more important than the technical skills
Conference call

        • I really appreciate your advice. By the way, I just left a message in your PM box.
          • I think if you were 20 years old when you came to Canada, you would be better than Jerry if you want ot learn English.
            • A statement becomes meaningless with too many "if".
